Brad’s Blog 4 - Feb 2010

I pulled the garden hose with attached rubber bladder blower from the clean out.
“Dump your grease in the compost or burn pile, from now on.” I said to my tenant.
I am happy to leave “Hickville” today. Machinist Dan called to say he would
“Close the doors and work on nothing else but my stuff.! Come on up. Bring your drawings,
The material is here!” The material order was enough for 8 Head Code faceplates. (4 sets)
14 feet of ¼inch X 2.5 inch I arrived to find only 12 feet shipped. Argg.
And it was cut down to 4ea 3 feet length!!! Arrr!! For ease of shipping!! Oh,
That is American efficiency for you. I have enough for 2 Head Codes instead of
The 4 awaiting cases! Anyway, Dan set about roughing out the 4 plates while I went
To metal supply house, picked up some available round stock, for knobs, flat stock,
For the mini Li face plates, Next stop, “Roseburg Glass” Ordered 2 pieces ¼ 14 X 18
To be TEMPERED, (done 160 mile away) Then sandblasting to be done in house.
Possible dimensional Logo layered in ? HEAD CODE top !! Yes Since Phil designs with
Lightning fast diodes! That also happen to Emit Lite, and provide voltage references,
(no lite means no power. problem in area) There are 40 LED’s in a Head Code!! It would
Look cool to have a glowing frosted top as “ON” indication? Cheaper to do Aluminum top
With pin hole lite visable. IMHO the extra $ is relatively small. If it is To bright,? It can be covered.
The LED’s are there regardless. Back at Dan’s, we coordinated the individual;
Components, ie dact step continuator as Volume with the plates, drilling each hole, counter bore,
And keeper slot very precisely. He machined 2 fronts & 2 backs for 2 Head Codes.
After sunset we went over the details for Head Code & Valve Code knobs, And.
The very first , Clam shell, 2 piece case, for Mini Li , will be carved out of C channel.
In my absence. Mini Li faces to follow.
I returned to Hickville, with the 2 sets of Head Code plates. Now between Phil, our Tec,
Myself, and a few molex connectors & wire coming in; we are ready to do the wiring harnesses.
Yes, everything is coming together, one step at a time.

Fog Filtered Lite Luminates Window Panes, ValveCode I Listen all Long Nite now Dawn Ponder who will understand this Enigma? Not Granpa’s Tube amp. Dominant midrange,Rolled off Lows & highs, No. This is the art of design philosopher extraordinaire Philip P. LaRocco!
Known for “Raising the Bar” in Solid State Head-phone amps. Now he has Returned his attention to Tube Amplification!
To best describe the Valve Code, The question must first be asked:
“IF Solid State technology had NOT come along, stopping tube technology in its tracks,
How might Tube amplification have Evolved? ? ? ? ? Well
Fifty Years Overdue, Valve Code will Debut ! ! ! ! ! When they are Perfect,
First Two will be sent for Review, to Rob Hughes, Chicago USA and Francis Lo, HK.
Triad Audio will/may/hopes to, sell these ones quickly, and more upon request with appropriate lead time.

I get many Q about Lisa III so in a nutshell:

Yes, you must have Lisa III, designed by Philip P. LaRocco.
Several things you may "hear", but do not see include :
a Third channel, left, right, as normal Plus a "driven ground" provides black background, no noise.
DC voltage. Lisa runs on a range from 15 - 24 volts 18 volt recharge installed nmh (except RS version)
double copper ground plane embedded in PC board - eliminates RF interferance
individual component output stage (not 1 chip)

Lisa III is built using "through hole" parts on top quality PCboards.
This provides easy modification , repair , and long life.

These PCB's are used in the 3 versions :
Lisa III std. comes with 2 X 9 volt, our most popular product, rated #1 for SQ, 3 years and counting
Lisa III XP comes with massive battery pac, 12 X AA, Run time 80 hours!* (*providing batteries live up
to manufactures specs.) double weight of std, 1.7 inch tall. same SQ as std.
Lisa III RS. how good can Lisa be? to find out removed (limiting) batteries, Use cranked up LLP. 32 volts!
add 3 caps & 2 banks of transistors, desk top use Lisa.

8 custom one of a kind Woodie cases were completed, This customization added $200 price increase.
2 are remaining. Both are Lisa III XP, with the 80 hour between charge batteries! (XP is $75 increase from std.)
they are the biggest Lisa III, however the sound is same as all Lisa's (xcept RS)
It will dwarf the competitors.

The largest complaint against Lisa has been, (posted by people who never purchased Lisa!!)
1. That Lisa is "TO Big" for portable use. and
2. no gain switch for IEM volume range.

There is some truth there.
in response:
we Have reduced the size while maintaining the SQ !!
This is the Mini Lisa
appointment with machinist Monday for case work. :)
